Rick Warren recently said “A biblical church must DO right, not just believe right.God’s story of his church is the Book of ACTS, not book of beliefs!”

High Street is seeking to do that through two ministries we have. Because of our relationship to Weller Elementary, we serve there frequently. Today, we launched a new effort: Dan and Gayla Wells have a burden to see all the kids in Springfield Title I schools receive a brand-new pair of Converse sneakers.

I helped measure the feet of over 300 kids today, and saw the faces of these kids we are so privileged to serve. I also heard some of their stories.

One little boy missed the first two days of school because he had no shoes. Thankfully, a new pair was provided for him. Today, when he found out he was going to get a SECOND pair of new shoes he was ecstatic!

Another little boy I spoke with was very serious and had a deep voice (in 2nd or 3rd grade). When I engaged him in conversation and made a comment about his voice, his response “I only have half a heart.” Wow! He cannot run, but engages fully in life.

The media showed up today, because shoes for kids, which is what OneSolePurpose is all about, is a heart-warming story. The story doesn’t end there. These kids and families need to personally learn the love of Jesus. Join me in praying that our goal of changed lives would be seen at High Street as we seek to Love God, Serve People and Reach the World.
